Loaded Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Mashed sweet potatoes don’t have to be sweet. This savory version combines tender sweet potatoes with butter, milk, bacon, green onions, and Parmesan cheese. The result is a creamy side dish with plenty of savory flavor.

Cooking the sweet potatoes with the butter and milk keeps the preparation simple. Once they are tender, everything comes together in one pot. The bacon, green onions, and Parmesan are stirred in at the end for a loaded finish.

I love recipes that take a familiar ingredient and give it a different place on the dinner table. These mashed sweet potatoes can take the place of traditional mashed potatoes when you want something a little different.

These Loaded Mashed Sweet Potatoes are easy to serve alongside a variety of main dishes. They work especially well with roasted pork, chicken, or grilled meats. They would also fit beautifully on a holiday dinner table.

I served them with my Hot Honey Pork Chops, and the pairing made a wonderful sweet-and-savory dinner. The creamy potatoes were a nice contrast to the spicy-sweet glaze on the pork.

If you’re planning a dinner with the Hot Honey Pork Chops, add these mashed sweet potatoes to the menu. You can also serve them with your favorite main dish whenever you’re ready to change up the usual potato side.
