It’s time to settle a household debate. 🍲 My husb It’s time to settle a household debate. 🍲

My husband is from New Orleans, and he says gumbo should be served just as it is.

I’m from Lake Charles where gumbo and potato salad go hand in hand. Sometimes it’s on the side. Sometimes it’s right in the bowl.

Neither of us is changing our minds. 😂

So let’s vote:

Tell me where you’re from and how you eat your gumbo! 👇

During a break in the rain, I took a walk through During a break in the rain, I took a walk through the garden to see how everything was holding up. 🌧️🌿

That’s when I spotted them—the first figs ready to pick.

It’s funny how the garden always seems to have a surprise waiting when you slow down long enough to look. After a rainy morning, finding ripe figs felt like a little reward.

Now the question is whether they’ll make it into the kitchen or get eaten fresh right off the tree. 💜

Do you like fresh figs, or have you never tried them?

Rain has been falling all morning at Rose Thicket Rain has been falling all morning at Rose Thicket Farms. 🌧️🌿

Not the quick pop-up showers we’re used to this time of year, but a steady rain that’s sticking around and giving everything a good soaking.

The garden has been drinking it in, and honestly, so have I. There’s something about a rainy day that makes you slow down, listen, and appreciate the season you’re in.

What’s the weather like where you are today? ☔️👇

This week at Rose Thicket Farms 🌿 We’ve been pick This week at Rose Thicket Farms 🌿

We’ve been picking blueberries, watching the figs ripen, checking on the pears, and enjoying all the summer blooms around the garden.

Today, dark clouds rolled in and brought much-needed rain. After the heat we’ve had lately, the garden was more than ready for it.

One of my favorite things about gardening is how it teaches patience. Some days you’re harvesting. Some days you’re weeding. Some days you simply sit back and watch the rain do the work.

What’s the weather been like where you are this week?

The first figs of the season are finally here. 💜 The first figs of the season are finally here. 💜

There’s something exciting about spotting that first ripe fig after months of watching the tree grow and waiting for summer to arrive. The harvest is small for now, but it’s a reminder that good things take time.

I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

Do you like fresh figs, or have you never tried them? 👇

A bowl of homegrown cherry tomatoes never gets old A bowl of homegrown cherry tomatoes never gets old. 🍅
Watching tiny blossoms become sweet, snackable tomatoes and bringing them into the kitchen is one of the best parts of the season. We’ve been enjoying these straight from the garden, and they disappear fast!
Every harvest is a reminder that the watering, weeding, and waiting are worth it.
What’s your favorite way to eat cherry tomatoes?
