The holidays are a time for family, friends, and of course, delicious food. This orange cranberry sauce is a versatile and flavorful addition to any feast, offering a delightful balance of sweetness and tanginess that pairs beautifully with turkey, ham, or even vegetarian dishes.
Orange Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup fresh orange juice about 4 medium oranges squeezed
- 1 Tbs apple brandy
- 1/2 tsp orange zest
Instructions
- Zest an orange and set aside.
- In a 3 quart pot, combine brown sugar, sugar, orange juice, and cranberries.
- If available cover the top of the pot with a mesh screen to reduce splatter on the stovetop.
- Bring to a boil.
- Simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
- Stir in the apple brandy and orange zest.
- Cook for 1 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Cool for 1-2 hours.
- Serve.
