Orange Cranberry Sauce

The holidays are a time for family, friends, and of course, delicious food. This orange cranberry sauce is a versatile and flavorful addition to any feast, offering a delightful balance of sweetness and tanginess that pairs beautifully with turkey, ham, or even vegetarian dishes.

Orange Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice about 4 medium oranges squeezed
  • 1 Tbs apple brandy
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest

Instructions

  • Zest an orange and set aside.
  • In a 3 quart pot, combine brown sugar, sugar, orange juice, and cranberries.
  • If available cover the top of the pot with a mesh screen to reduce splatter on the stovetop.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  • Stir in the apple brandy and orange zest.
  • Cook for 1 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Cool for 1-2 hours.
  • Serve.

Notes

Be sure to read all labels for gluten-free. 
The orange zest will turn bitter if you cook it too long in the cranberry sauce.
