When people hear that I live in Texas, they imagine huge metropolitan cities, rolling pastures with cattle, or desert images with beautiful southwest rock formations. While all these places exist in Texas, I live in The Big Thicket.
The thicket is a rural area of densely packed trees, chocolate-brown rivers with white sand banks, and some of the most beautiful birds and flowers I’ve ever seen. This often-overlooked area reminds me of the phase of life that I’ve recently entered. As I’ve stayed home with my family for various reasons, I’ve had to walk through the change from having a work community to building my own. Without a deliberate effort, I could have easily felt overlooked as well. I decided to build a community of people where we can cook, entertain, and share our lives.
I hope you enjoy the photos I share of The Big Thicket, my family, friends, and my food. Join me on this adventure as we learn together.
