On Saturdays in Southeast Texas people are running around trying to get their kids ready for various sports, activities, and errands. It’s a frantic moment trying to locate socks, eat breakfast, and to get the family to the car.
Getting in the car is one of my favorites moments of our Saturday morning routine. Everyone is quiet as we drive into town. The sun is just peaking over the trees and Southeast Texas turns a beautiful golden brown. It is like honey for my soul.
The frantic morning slips away and I am allowed a chance to regroup before I am the cheerleader, snack provider, and entertainer. The days are long, but the years are short and it is in these moments that I remember to invest in the moment rather than just survive it.
