Embellish a Wreath

I absolutely love to decorate my home! This year my color theme for summer is blue, white, and yellow. I find blue and white to be very traditional and adding yellow brings a freshness to the decor. This is why I like using lemons as an accent. They just remind me of the freshness of summer.

I found this beautiful wreath at my local Sam’s Club. I love the fullness of the foliage and the pop of yellow throughout. It has quite a variety of textures from the different greenery and flowers used.

My doors are darker, so I decided to add white flowers to help the wreath show up on my door. I wanted to add a blue and white gingham bow to this wreath to complete the look. I followed this tutorial to make my bow.

The beauty of embellishing a store-bought wreath is that you have a place to start. I like the fact that it often has the foliage that you want to have and that you don’t have to buy each type. Most store-bought wreaths just need some additional flowers, greenery, and a bow to complete the look.

Materials Needed

  • Wreath
  • Additional flowers
  • 2.5 inch wired ribbon
  • 1 piece of pipe cleaner
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Floral cutters
  • Floral wire or grapevine floral wire

Instructions

  1. Unbox/unpackage your wreath.
  2. Use the floral cutters to cut the flowers off the stem.
  3. Decide on the placement of flowers.
  4. Use floral wire or hot glue to secure the flowers to the wreath depending on the type of base you have.
  5. Construct the bow. In this tutorial, I used a 2.5-inch x 4-yard spool of ribbon for each wreath.
  6. Add the bow to the wreath.
  7. Hang on your door and enjoy!
